Federal Court

Federal Court is very different from State Court. The penalties are often more severe and you will not get a typical plea offer that carries a specific sentence.

A case often begins with a pre-arrest criminal investigation. As part of the investigation subpoenas and search warrants are served on various parties. The case officially begins when charges are filed by the federal prosecutor in federal district court.
